Outdoor Kitchens & Fire Pits

Outdoor kitchens, fireplace, and firepits are one of the hottest trends in landscaping. With an outdoor kitchen and a fire pit, you can enhance & extend your outdoor living experience. Planning a kitchen, fireplace and fire pit requires an in-depth analysis of each family’s individual needs. How many burners are needed? Do you want a bar or fire pit included? The size of party you entertain, cooking style & frequency, and the formality you desire are all taken into account.natural-stone-firepit-ideas

With a wide variety of textures, colors and sizes, natural stone allows you to express your distinct style by transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Natural stone works well with both formal and informal homes and can be used in a wide variety of ways. It can be used for retaining walls, patios, pond, steps and more. Mix and matching different colors and styles is a great way to add texture, contrast, and color to your landscape. Long lasting and durable, natural stone offers a stylish touch of class to any landscape.

A landscaping favorite, flagstone is the perfect choice for walks, paths and patios. Flagstone is a great choice for an upscale look, yet it can handle day to day use and wear and tear from outdoor living.

A popular variation of flagstone is blue stone. Blue stone is popular due to its flexibility and deep lovely blue tones. Asymmetrical pieces whose rounded edges mimic the curves of a natural landscape are a good choice for casual or natural looks.  Evenly sized paver styled blue stone are a good choice for modern clean looks.

Cut drywall such as Eden or Chilton is a beautiful product. It ranges from gray to buff tones and has been used for retaining walls and steps for thousands of years. It blends well with both bluestone and pavers for a crisp look. Any variation of drywall or outcropping offers the perfect blend between beauty and functionality.

The Barn offers a large variety of stone and patterns. Get in contact with one of our landscape designers today for more information on natural stone landscaping.

Retaining walls can be used for achieving improved access to the various parts of a lawn and outdoor living space. They are also used to create planting beds, add texture and color and can add as a type of stairway down a sharp hill. At The Barn we can work with homeowners on grading and installation as needed to improve access to parts of the yard or improve drainage issues.
